This past week, it was mostly working on the senior project stuff. Nothing new was really taught. We did start on the annotated bibliography. I believe that Its easier than I think.
This week, we went over the difference between leadership and volunteering. Not what one was better or worse than the other, but that there are differences in what leadership and volunteering means. We shared our thoughts with each other over what we thought leadership is or is about. For example: to me, leadership is knowing what you are doing and passionate. To others, it might be something different and we shared our thoughts by writing on the whiteboard. We compared volunteering and leadership.
We did the same with volunteering. Wrote our individual thoughts and shared them. This was leading up slowly to us talking about the senior project we are getting ready for in the coming weeks. It was too make us think and incorporate the lesson into us thinking about our big questions for the senior project.
We had another lesson that I believe was leading up to us talking about the senior project. We had think of 2 questions we were questioning. For example, mine was, "Why are we afraid to stand out". We then shared our thoughts about each of our question and what we could do about it.
Over the course of this week, we started working the write up of our presentation, mainly focusing on our big questions. We read some "stories" and did little things that build up the meaning of our big question. We also started or finished our cornell notes, which again, helped built up our question. I learned that sharing your thoughts and information about our question helps get some ideas in my own thoughts.
Some of the activities that we did, for example, we read a little short story about this indian boy's life throughout the years at school and such. After we read it, we wrote what word, phrase and sentence stuck out to us and how it connected with each of our big questions.
I still do not completely understand what we are doing for our presentation but i'll figure it out eventually.
This week, we jumped right into creating a poem. I learned that, for me, it's not as hard as I thought it was to write a poem I just need my brain jumpstarted a little bit so I can create. I don't like poetry but I was recently reminded that music is poetry. So, I don't like certain types of poetry and this class seems to revolve, just a little bit, around poetry.
This is already the end of the second week of the last trimester of my senior year and I can already tell that I will be getting to come out of my shell. I learned that it's okay to share things and not fear being judged.
